Apple View Guest House
Apple View is a quiet, comfortable, family run guest house, set in the shady apple orchards below the village of Old Manali in the Indian Himalaya. In the 10 years since it was built, Apple View has attracted visitors from all over the world, some of whom have returned to stay many times since. Manali's relaxed atmosphere and idyllic setting is a world apart from the heat and dust of the Indian plains, and the "Manali effect" means visitors often come with the intention of staying for a week, and end up staying for a month or more.
Old Manali; the backpackers' Himalayan favourite
Old Manali is the village counterpart to the bustling main town of Manali, and is Himachal Pradesh's main summer destination for western backpackers, trekkers and partygoers escaping the summer heat.
Manali is located at the northern end of the Kulu Valley - also known as the "Valley of the Gods". It is bordered on two sides by magnificent hills studded with rural villages, and enjoys clear views of the snow capped mountains that border the Lahaul and Spiti trekking regions. Although it is a major destination in its own right, it is also the stepping off point for trips to Ladakh, Zanskar, Lahaul and Spiti.
